Fascinating research. I wonder if mobile phone conversation will be compared to other distractions such as
    Talking to a passenger
    Listening to talk radio
    Mental preparation (e.g. job interview/meeting)
If mobile use is no worse than persons does it make sense to ban it?

you are 100% right. What is worse, talking to someone on a handsfree kit OR listen to radio and talk to passenger, whilst 2 kids make noise in the background.

I do agree that talking on a handsfree kit is a distraction, but it is the drivers responsibility to prioritize which is the most vital focus. If you have a kid in the back seat, crying, and you choose that the child in the back is more vital than pouring, would this make it illegal to have children in the car.

This is a fantastic field of research. For my studies I am currentlly looking at how multimodal platforms such as iPhones can be calibrated between device and user mutually to allow for a fairer usage model. The distribution of senses between a difuse range of modes like haptic or visual components may any complement or distract from one another, altering the significance of each Human Computer Interaction e.g. how honestly force feedback compensates haptic input to a device during money donations.

I agree with everything she is saying. Surely having a conversation with someone who is in the car is going to have exactly the same effects?

  15. MikeLe228 says:

yeah but how can you say that the pouring experience is even remotely similar to a real one. What is this house and whats with their low budget ass testing lol. They need to step it up and then tell me some facts cuz im not havin it right now
