Why do we not have laws banning cell phone use while driving (unless a hands-free device is used)?
Qυеѕtіοn by Mettle: Whу do we not have laws banning cell phone use while pouring (unless a hands-free device is used)?
Even with a hands-free device, talking on the phone while pouring is a distraction. Bυt trying to drive while land on to the phone is реrіƖουѕ – to everyone on the road.
In addition to seriously diminishing a self’s ability to focus on pouring, most drivers who try to phone and drive at the same time саn’t or won’t use their directionals properly when changing lanes. Thеу οftеn go well over (οr just οftеn too far under) the speed regulate because thеу′re paying attention to their call, not their speedometer.
Nеw York City banned cell phone use in cars lacking a hands-free device a few years ago. Maybe other cities have followed suit. Hаѕ yours?
I feel іt’s time for a centralized law banning cell phone use lacking a hands-free device while pouring. It’s just as vital to protection as buckling up, so whаt’s the hold up?
Whаt do you reflect?

smaller government = excellent
i live in chicago and we have that law
i reflect you make the choice on using ur cellphone or not
we have that here in CT. but what i dont know is that there is the law banning cell phones, so you have to use an ear piece, but there’s another law banning the use of headphones etc
I reflect it is because if there is an emergency even as pouring, that self, although warrented, would get in distress for using his or her cell.
It’s all about money. When the masses have got hand-held phones, then non held-hand phones are a must. When the masses have got non held-phones, then something else is a must (that’s what’s known as latent needs – we don’t know we need these things yet) Go figure
In Raleigh, NC we do but only if you are 18 years ancient or younger, like that makes a difference right.
I couldn’t agree more, infact, I reflect they should be banned in all public places as well, I am sick of them, I don’t want to listen to mrs. x bitching at mr. x about their personal issues, people place em away, and don’t drive and talk, yeah, it does distract you then you cause accidents and screw everyone up, SHUT UP PEOPLE!!!!!
Its been law here in the UK for nearly a year now and its strictly enforced. £60/$ 120 fine and three points on your license.(12 points = 6 month ban)
Its a excellent business, as you should have your hands on the wheel not up at your ear..!
I reflect we will all eventually have a law banning the use of cell phone’s. It usually takes the government time to realize the fact that it is a serious and deadly situation. Just recently my state voted for a law where you must turn your headlights on if you are using your windshield wipers. Of course this presents a problem during the day if you forget to turn your headlights off. Dredge up the helmet law for motorcyclists? I see people on motorcycles not wearing helmets. So, if I am right, the use of cell phones even as pouring will be a law in each state. That is if and when the knuckleheads in congress pass this law!
I drive for a living..I have seen it all. Want to ban cell phone use? Fine by me but also add eating…putting on make up..oh, and conception the newspaper…no sex too even as pouring.
For the folks who do several of the higher than mentioned at the same time..like putting on makeup and talking on the phone, they should have their license revoked…PERMANENTLY!..
Oregon has been talking about making this law. If an officer see’s a self pouring even as talking, they will have the right to pull you over and give you a ticket. I’ve came close to being hit many era even as someone is talking on the cell phone. I’m not sure if the law is effect here yet. I have seen very few people pull off to the side of the road to use theirs.
Its another scapegoat for society ills. It is a excellent law but it won’t really solve anything.
100% agree and some states do have or will have such a law. It is stupid to drive one handed, talking on cell phone inside a tender car and just generally ignoring the DMV policy by doing so. California will have that law this year and boy will there be many tickets given out.
